Welcome Kits: Prepare "New Neighbor Kits" to be given to newly resettling immigrants through Lutheran Social Services. When refugees arrive to our country, they come with few possessions.

 

"Welcome Boxes" are small gifts that are given to new arrivals to ease the transition into their new home during the first few days and weeks.

 

Collect the following items and pack them into a shoebox or similarly-sized container. You may choose to decorate the container with wrapping paper, stickers, etc. Please label the boxes as "Men," "Boy," "Woman," "Girl," "Unisex Adult," or "Unisex Child." Bring them to the church office when finished.

 

Adult-sized Welcome Boxes
*Hand towel
*Washcloth
*Shampoo   
*Conditioner
*Soap
*Toothpaste and Toothbrush
*Comb/brush
*Deodorant   
*Lotion   
*Shaving cream/razors
*Pen/Pencil   
*Small Notepad    
 *Socks

Kid-sized Welcome Boxes (about half of our arrivals are children)
*Toothbrush   
*Socks     
*Books (all reading levels needed)
*Crayons/coloring book (younger ages)
*Journal, diary, drawing tablet and pens (older ages)
*Small toy   
*Anything else kids might like! (e.g. balls, markers)

MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERER: Drivers are needed every six weeks to help deliver meals to 3 to 6 home bound people. The routes, clustered together geographically, typically take under an hour. This is a wonderful project to do with a partner or with your young children.
