Volunteer Opportunity

Are you looking for a new volunteer opportunity? The church office is an area that is easy to overlook, but the church office is in need of volunteers. It’s a wonderful way to contribute to the daily life of the church and to connect with staff, members and visitors on a regular basis. Consider contributing your time and talents to the church by serving as a volunteer receptionist. Volunteers work one morning or afternoon a week answering phones, greeting visitors and working on office projects. This type of volunteer ministry strengthens our church family and our church community. Consider being a part of this ministry and becoming an “honorary staff member!”

Seeds: Sunday School Final Weekend

Thank you all for a fun year! I wanted to remind you, that this Sunday all parents and kids are invited to come celebrate the final day. We will be meeting in the fellowship hall at 9:45, recognizing our leaders for the year and have an ice cream treat. Following this celebration the congregation will also be celebrating Janet Fystrom who is retiring from Good Shepherd at the end of the month. So, this weekend there will be cake and ice cream!
If you still haven’t filled out the survey please do so, as it will help us prepare better for next year. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/V8J8VTY »

Looking Ahead ~ May 20

Praise His Holy Name: A Festival of Worship in Word and Song, a celebration of this past year of wonderful music-making by Good Shepherd’s adult, children’s and bell choirs, will be offered on Sunday, May 20, at both 8:30 and 11:00 services. This is the last day of Sunday school. Join your children in the sanctuary at 9:45 for a celebration.

There will be a reception between services for Janet Fystrom who will be retiring from Good Shepherd May 31.

A special program by the Alleluia Choir, directed by Laurie Dehmlow, will be presented at 10:45 am, in the sanctuary.

Summer Worship Schedule

We begin our summer worship schedule on Sunday, June 3. The 8:30 service will be held in the courtyard (weather permitting) and the 10:00 service will be in the air-conditioned sanctuary.

Families Moving Forward

Sign up in the narthex to help or bring food for Families Moving Forward June 10-17.

Graduate Prayer Partners

College is often the best four years of a persons life, however, that first year can be hard! Good Shepherd needs people to be a connection to our high school graduates. This opportunity is open to anyone who is willing to commit to pray and connect with the graduate for one year. The minimum expectation for being a prayer partner is to pray for the graduate weekly and connect with them monthly via mail, email, or other means. You are not limited to the minimal expectations; possibilities include care package, or getting together for coffee or lunch.

Good Shepherd hosts Bandshell Service on May 27

Good Shepherd will host the outdoor service at Lake Harriet. We will move our Sunday morning worship service out of the sanctuary and into the Lake Harriet Bandshell. It’s a wonderful way we can reach out to our city neighborhood – offering a worship experience and hospitality to friends and strangers – a great opportunity to connect with those around us.

Following the service there will be a picnic lunch hosted by Good Shepherd with food and beverages provided.

Please note that there will not be a worship service at Good Shepherd on that Sunday.

LSS Metro Homeless Youth Services
